At next month’s Construction Week conference at NEC Birmingham on 10th-12th October, Omron Electronic Components is to demonstrate a new range of IoT ready sensors for smart buildings.

The Omron team will be on hand at Stand: S30 in the Smart Buildings section showing how their latest sensors are creating opportunities for both manned and unmanned buildings to become automated.

Such sensors are making it increasingly easy for both the direct and indirect environmental factors affecting a facility, to be monitored over the IoT. Sensors paired with cloud based solutions allow automated response procedures to be put in place based on set thresholds.

At this year’s UK Construction Week at the NEC in Birmingham, visitors will be able to see how sensors like the Omron Human Vision Component (HVC) module, which recognises a variety of facial recognition functions and the 2JCIE-BL01 sensor, that measures multiple factors in the localised environment, can be applied to create autonomous, intelligent, smart buildings.

Sensors displayed by Omron at Stand: S30 include:

  • HVC-P2 B5T - Facial recognition sensor that offers ten key image sensing functions: detection of a human face, hand or body, face recognition, gender detection and estimations of age, mood, facial pose, gaze and blink
  • 2JCIE-BL01 - Environmental sensor which measures temperature, humidity, light, barometric pressure, noise and acceleration in a single compact module. Comes with embedded memory for data logging and Bluetooth connectivity
  • Dust Sensor - Able to detect particles as small as 0.5 micron, it also features a high air throughput of around six times that of established alternatives, giving improved sensitivity of response to changes in the environment
  • D7S - The highly compact seismic sensor has the ability to distinguish between genuine seismic activity and disturbances or from other sources
  • D6T - Thermal sensor ideal for building automation applications, it measures the room temperature and can detect occupancy even when people are stationary. Omron is offering versions with a wider field of view including the single eye D6T-1A-01, with a field 58° square

Omron’s expert staff will be available at Stand: S30 to answer any questions and demonstrate the above sensors, as well as the D6F flow sensor, the digital barometric pressure sensor 2SMPB and the G5RL relay (for light control).

UK Construction Week is the UK’s largest gathering of construction professionals coming together at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham between 10th-12th October. UK Construction Week is designed to ultimately drive forward and promote construction.
