MEMs microphone offers multiple performance modes

The MP23DB02MM from STMicroelectronics is an ultra-compact, low-power, omnidirectional, digital MEMS microphone built with a capacitive sensing element and an IC interface with optional stereo configuration.

The sensing element of the MP23DB02MM is capable of detecting acoustic waves and is manufactured using a specialised silicon micromachining process dedicated to produce audio sensors.

An onboard IC interface is manufactured using a CMOS process that allowed STMicroelectronics to design a dedicated circuit that is able to provide a digital signal externally in PDM format.

Sensitivity is -26 dBFS typical with a narrow sensitivity range of 1 dB, high SNR and low distortion for all operation modes.

The device offers multiple performance modes, power down, low power and normal mode, these are enabled by using different clock frequency ranges and offer current consumption in low-power mode of just 285 A and 800 A in normal mode.
