L-com launches line of diffuse photoelectric proximity sensors

L-com has recently begun offering a line of diffuse reflection photoelectric proximity sensors.

They precisely determine the proximity, absence or presence of an item using a light transmitter and carry an ingress protection rating of IP67. The IoT sensors are ideal for applications such as industrial and warehouse automation, automotive, manufacturing, food and beverage, and robotics.

The newly released proximity sensors contain a specialised integrated circuit that delivers the stable performance required for these applications. Other defining features include easy installation, a wide selection of output options and a broad detection range.

The photoelectric proximity sensors are 12 mm in diameter and have a threaded barrel for easy installation and adjustment. They offer three detection ranges to best suit most applications: from 0 to 0.1 meter, 0 to 0.2 meter and 0 to 0.3 meter.

The proximity sensors are constructed using a rugged brass nickel-plated housing. Their IP67 rating means they are completely dust-tight, offering the highest level of protection against solid particles. They are also waterproof to the extent they can withstand immersion in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes.

L-com’s new line of proximity sensors is compatible with various control systems and applications. Users can choose a sensor that acts as a sourcing (PNP) or sinking (NPN) output, and they can have it respond with a normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC) signal. Operating voltages range from 10 VDC to 36 VDC. Each sensor comes with a two-meter pigtail cable.

“Our new proximity sensors are precise but tough,” said Product Line Manager Tim Houghton. “They accurately detect objects, instantly output that data and are dependable with their rugged IP67 construction.”
