Modular signal switching and simulation products, Pickering Interfaces, has launched its model 40-263 PXI RTD simulator module range that provides a cost-effective method of simulating PT100, PT500 or PT1000 RTDs (resistance temperature detectors) with high accuracy.

The range supports four, eight, 12, 16, 20 or 24 channels in one or two PXI slots with channels able to be set as short or open circuit to simulate faulty wiring to a sensor.

The modules are available with resistance ranges of 40 to 900Ω for PT100 simulation, 200 to 4,500Ω for PT500 simulation and 400 to 9,000Ω for PT1000 simulation. All versions are suitable for simulating a temperature range of approximately -150 to over +850°C for their given sensor type. The use of resistance value calls makes programming simple.

The 40-263 range provides a convenient system for verifying channel resistance using an external DMM connected to the calibration port. This system allows cascading, so one DMM can be used to verify multiple modules. Verification can also be performed while the DUT is connected to the module.

Paul Bovingdon, Simulation Product Manager at Pickering Interfaces, stated: “The modular PXI format allows for flexibility and scalable system integration, and units are compatible with PXI, PXIe Hybrid and Pickering USB/LXI chassis. Applications include any Device Under Test that works with RTD sensors such as large ocean-going ship engines, satellites, and many others.”

Pickering Interfaces stands behind all of its manufactured products with a standard three-year warranty and guaranteed long-term product support.
