Farsens have introduced a new battery free sensor tag, Fenix2. Compatible with commercial EPC C1G2 readers, the Fenix2 sensor tags communicates a unique ID and associated temperature data without the need for a battery supply on the sensor tag.
Available in different antenna design and sizes, the Fenix2 battery free sensor tags operate in a range of -30°C to +85°C (-22°F to +185°F).

Able to communicate through materials such as plastics or concrete to around 1.5 metres (5 feet), the new sensor tags can be embedded in hardly accessible locations.

One of the key features of this device is its fully passive nature: the Fenix2 will never require a battery change, saving the costs associated to maintenance. It also makes the battery free temperature sensor ideal for hardly accessible or restricted areas and those where the use of batteries is not recommended.

Typical applications for the Fenix2 include temperature sensitive assets and processes. Each tag has a unique ID and a temperature sensor that is uniquely associated to that ID.

The Fenix2 battery free temperature sensor tag is therefore a perfect solution for applications such as cold chain monitoring or fire prevention for high value assets (i.e.: switchgears). Evaluation kits are available.
