Evaluation kit supports proximity sensor module

Distributor Mouser Electronics, Inc. is now stocking the TCS3430 evaluation kit from ams.

The ams TCS3430 evaluation kit is designed to evaluate the TCS3430 proximity sensor module, and comprises a main controller board with a PIC microcontroller, an industry-standard USB 2.0 interface (with a USB cable), and a TCS3430 module daughtercard.

The kit also includes “plug-n-play” USB HID class drivers, software documentation, and GUI software.

This allows users to control the proximity sensor settings as the PIC takes the TCS3430 I²C digital outputs to calculate illuminance in lux and colour temperature.

The onboard TCS3430 proximity sensor module provides digital measurements of illuminance (brightness) and chromaticity that match the CIE 1931 “Standard Observer” XYZ scale, enabling True Colour functionalities.

The miniature TCS3430 is ideal for functions such as display management, automatic white colour balancing or colour management.
