Clamp AC current sensors designed for use in the power distribution panels of a variety of energy management systems have been released by TDK. The CCT series devices are rated for 300 and 80A and have a current transformation ratio of 3000:1, offering maximum output currents of 100 and 26.6mA, respectively. For voltage peak suppression, the sensors feature an integrated open-circuit protection element.

The 300A type features a clamp inner diameter of 24mm and is suitable for high current applications such as the energy management systems in buildings, factories and stores. It achieves its high current rating through its optimised sensor shape and ferrite material. The 80A type, which features a 10mm clamp inner diameter, employs the same material as the existing 100 and 30A types in the CCT series.

The sensors’ snap-on clamp design allows them to be quickly and easily installed in existing power distribution panels.
