Saft will be attending this year’s Paris Motor Show, held from 27 September to 14 October 2012. It will present its lithium-ion battery solutions for three major applications, namely “affordable” 48V hybrid systems for passenger vehicles, limited edition luxury vehicles and motor racing vehicles, as well as electric and hybrid buses, trucks and other industrial vehicles.
“Saft’s presence at the Paris Motor Show, where this time round we are presenting several advanced
technology battery systems for electric and hybrid vehicles, attests to this market’s importance for our
Group which is one of our strategic development focuses for the future”, said Xavier Delacroix, General Manager, Industrial Battery Group, Saft.

Visitors to the show can preview two new lithium-ion modules:

A new 48 V module
The module provides an energy storage solution for “affordable hybrid” or “eco-hybrid” systems equipping passenger vehicles. Such systems are designed to achieve significant reductions in CO2 emissions and fuel consumption due to their stop-start, regenerative braking and boost functions.

Developed in cooperation with Valeo’s Propulsion Systems Division, Saft’s 48 V lithium-ion battery module uses specific technology which renders it suitable for use in very high power applications.

A new Super-Phosphate module for electric and hybrid vehicles
Electric and hybrid vehicles can now reap the benefit of the unique performance of the SuperPhosphate
technology developed by Saft which is superior to the standard lithium-iron phosphate technology currently available in the market.

Saft offers battery systems comprising standard modules that can be rolled out in different versions,
allowing energy and power adjustment so as to cover a broad range of applications ranging from hybrid to all-electric.

Saft’s lithium-ion technology powering the Furtive-eGT
The Furtive-eGT, developed by Exagon Motors and presented for the first time at the Paris Motor Show in its final version, will also be equipped with a latest generation lithium-ion Saft battery which both meets the demands of GT electric performance requirements and provides the best compromise between autonomy, top speed and longevity.

The Furtive-eGT, an electric sports car of exceptional performance, is the product of European
technological excellence bringing together four major industrial players: Siemens for its motorisation, Saft for its lithium-ion batteries, Michelin for its tyres and OAK Racing for its carbon chassis. The car will be assembled by Exagon Motors in Magny-Cours starting in mid-2013.

A press conference presenting the Furtive-eGT will take place on Friday, 28 September, at 10h30 at the
Exagon Motors stand.

On the stand it shares with AVERE France, in Hall 2.1, Saft displays, alongside its two new Li-ion modules, the latest of Peugeot’s electric scooters, the e-Vivacity, as well as the electric Andros Car, both of which are equipped with lithium-ion batteries.
