A compact yet powerful energy harvesting generator and a snap-action microswitch and rocker switch will be available from CHERRY in mid-2015.

The CHERRY energy harvesting generator is able to generate its own power, store the power in a chip and transmit a signal via RF technology without the use of wires or batteries. The generator can be housed in one of the standard CHERRY switch products, or a custom assembly.

Also coming to the market around the same timeframe is a CHERRY receiver. The receiver is equipped with ‘Easy Mode’ pairing; making pairing the switches and receiver possible in just a few quick steps.

“We have been very anxious to bring our Energy Harvesting products to market”, said Ryan Eder, Marketing Manager, CHERRY. “Our snap-action switch, as well as our rocker switch will be highly unique; not only do they require no wires or batteries, but there is very little like them available in the marketplace”.

“With one of the primary benefits being that these products can eliminate the use of wires, we expected lighting to be a primary target market. We were right, but in addition to commercial, industrial and residential lighting we are seeing very large interest from aftermarket lighting accessories in automotive, marine and recreational vehicles as well. Furthermore, foot pedal applications, medical devices and remote door accessibility are also a few examples of suitable applications for these products,” adds Eder.
