YUASA moves to Swindon

Yuasa Battery Sales (UK) Ltd has recently moved its operations to new offices, warehousing and distribution facilities in Swindon from Ebbw Vale in South Wales. The move was prompted by the opportunity to radically improve the company’s logistics and carbon footprint while the Ebbw Vale manufacturing facility continues to focus on its core activity of producing industrial batteries only.

Yuasa’s new facility at South Marston, just outside Swindon, is close to the M4 providing rapid transport links with customers in the UK, particularly London, the south east and midlands. It is also more conveniently placed for the port of Southampton through which many of the company’s products arrive from Yuasa’s various global manufacturing facilities.

The new facility includes approx. 7,000m² of warehousing bringing together the company’s industrial and automotive battery distribution operations under one roof for the first time. A new battery charging facility is also being installed to ensure batteries are maintained in first class condition.

Commenting on the new facility, Andrew Taylor, managing director, Yuasa Battery Sales (UK) Ltd said, “Choosing the premises at South Marston gives Yuasa the opportunity to bring all of its UK sales and distribution operations under one roof as well as bringing us closer to our customers. The central location also improves our logistics and reduces the company’s carbon footprint significantly. In addition, the Swindon area provides an excellent pool of experienced workers as we seek to constantly maintain and improve our customer service and consolidate our position as the UK’s number one supplier of batteries for industrial, automotive and motorcycle markets.”
