Yuasa Battery Marks 30 Years In UK With Official Opening Of New Swindon Sales And Distribution Facility

Yuasa Battery Sales (UK) Ltd marked its 30th anniversary of business in the UK with the official opening of its new sales and distribution facility near Swindon. The new sales, warehousing and distribution facilities in South Marston just outside Swindon were officially opened by the Mayor of Swindon, Cllr Ray Ballman and Mr Koichi Shiina, Senior Managing Director of GS Yuasa Corporation on 21st July with an open day and luncheon for customers, suppliers and employees. The event also marked Yuasa’s 30th anniversary of setting up business in the UK during which time the company has grown to become the UK’s number one supplier, with 58 staff annually selling around 7.5 million batteries in the UK and European industrial and automotive markets. 85% of the company’s workforce is from the local Swindon area.

The new facility includes approx. 7,000m² of warehousing bringing together the company’s industrial and automotive battery distribution operations under one roof for the first time. A battery charging facility ensures batteries are maintained in first class condition.

Yuasa’s new facility is close to the M4 providing rapid transport links with customers in the UK, particularly London, the south east and midlands. It is also conveniently placed for the port of Southampton through which many of the company’s products arrive from Yuasa’s various global manufacturing facilities.

Andrew Taylor, Managing Director, Yuasa Battery Sales (UK) Ltd commented, “The South Marston facilities bring all of Yuasa’s UK sales and distribution operations under one roof as well as being close to our customers. The location improves our logistics and reduces the company’s carbon footprint significantly. In addition, the Swindon area provides an excellent pool of experienced workers as we seek to constantly maintain and improve our customer service and consolidate our position as the UK’s number one supplier of batteries for industrial, automotive and motorcycle markets.”
