While the mains supply is healthy, the Studer Compact charges the battery and simultaneously provides power to any electrical appliance plugged into the unit’s AC outlet. If fitted with an optional solar charge controller, the unit can also charge the battery using the DC output from a solar panel.
In the event of a mains failure, the inverter/charger automatically switches over to battery power and converts the DC output into an AC supply – in effect providing the functionality of an uninterruptible power supply.
Available in three different models offering output powers ranging from 1600VA to 4000VA, the Studer Compact delivers an output voltage of 230VAC at 50Hz with a high maximum efficiency of 95%.
The unit features a four-stage battery charger with power factor correction and a typical charging current of 55A, while the use of a fast transfer relay enables a switchover time of less than 20ms to be achieved.
Providing fully programmable operation, the Studer Compact can be set up to suit individual requirements – for example, responding to parameters such as battery levels, alarm conditions or the presence of mains power.
All models incorporate built-in protection against overloads, short circuits, reverse polarity and overheating and have an operating temperature range of -20 to +55degC.
