X-REL Semiconductor announces the XTR70020 high input voltage, high output current ULDO (Ultra Low Dropout) linear regulator, with best-in-class dropout voltage and quiescent current consumption. The recently released XTR70020 further expands X-REL’s portfolio of high reliability, extreme temperature and extended lifetime power management products for linear power supply applications in power generation, oil & gas, industrial, aerospace, defence and automotive markets.

The XTR70020 offers unparalleled performance in terms of dropout voltage (power losses), output voltage stability (over input voltage, load current and temperature), wide range of input voltages (3 to 32V), quiescent current and output current capability (>2A). It also provides several preset standard output voltages (0.6 to 15V) and the possibility to obtain other output voltages by using two external resistors. Other features include over current/short circuit protection, customer selectable thermal shut-down, soft start-up/shut-down and automatic transition to low quiescent current mode depending on dropout voltage.

The unique performance and features of the XTR70020 makes it suited to supplying sensors and actuators as well as post regulation or primary power supply.

Laurent Martinez, Sales & Marketing Director, X-REL Semiconductor, highlighted, “Market key players stated X-REL is today the reference in innovative high temperature semiconductors products. The XTR70020 product highlights X-REL pursuing this effort. This product does not only aim at being a drop-in replacement to existing former generation regulators, but mainly at offering a high temperature linear voltage regulator with groundbreaking performance and features.”

As with all other X-REL Semiconductor products, the XTR70020 is able to reliably operate from -60 to well above +230°C, with expected lifetime of about five years at +230°C. Being operational at high temperatures is mandatory in applications where the environment is at elevated temperature or where a power device makes the temperature increase inside the application casing. Additionally, all X-REL Semiconductor products can be used in applications running at lower temperatures (e.g. from 100 to 200°C) where extended lifetime is expected or where failing is not an option. For example, the expected lifetime of X-REL Semiconductor parts in an application operating at Tj=150°C is over 35 years.

The XTR70020 is already available in several high-reliability compact hermetic or plastic packages as well as bare die and it can be immediately deployed on niche as well as on large-scale markets.
