KEMET's new automotive grade Supercapacitors at Rutronik

Rutronik expands its range of Supercapacitors for the automotive industry with the new automotive grade types FMD0H334ZF, FU0H105ZF, and FMU0H334ZF from KEMET.

Optimised design and materials enable a long service life of up to 1,000 hours at 85 °C (FMD, FU) and 105 °C (FMU). The components also meet the special requirements of the THB test (85°C / 85 % r. H. / 1,000 h) for the automotive industry. Thanks to their characteristics, the components are ideal for memory backup and RTC support. They fulfil the requirements of AEC-Q200 and are produced in a TS16949 certified factory.

ROHM compact SOT-223-3 600V MOSFETs

ROHM has added a lineup of compact 600V Super Junction MOSFETs – the R6004END4 / R6003KND4 / R6006KND4 / R6002JND4 / R6003JND4. These devices are ideal for small lighting power supplies, pumps, and motors.

In recent years, power supplies for lighting and motors for pumps are required to be smaller as devices become more sophisticated – spurring the demand for compact MOSFETs that are essential for switching operations.

Generally, however, it has been difficult to reduce the size of Super Junction MOSFETs while maintaining an optimal balance between high breakdown voltage and low ON resistance. In response, after reviewing the shape of the mounted chip, ROHM was able to develop 5 models in the SOT-223-3 package (6.50mm × 7.00mm × 1.66mm) – providing a smaller, lower profile form factor without compromising the performance of conventional products.

New medical power supply for cardiac patients

Bear Power Supplies has received a purchase order to develop a low-leakage CF-rated power supply for a cardiac application.

This 750W Made in USA power supply meets the most stringent rating under the IEC 60601-1-standard. Medical power supplies with a cardiac floating (CF) rating isolate system circuitry from the patient’s heart and must have a patient leakage current that does not exceed 10 µA.

Most leakage currents are generated by excess capacitance, the ability of a component or circuit to store an electrical charge. Under the IEC 60601-1-standard, a power supply’s rating determines the maximum allowable patient leakage current, the amount of current in the AC line that reaches the patient. Bear has developed an innovative isolation technique that yields leakage current of less than 5 µA, exceeding the requirements for Type CF-rated medical devices.

TRACO 6W medical DC/DC converter

TRACO POWER has released its new TIM 6 series 6 watt medical DC/DC converters designed for cost-efficiency without sacrificing performance.

The TIM 6 series provides reinforced isolation of 5000 VAC (250 VAC Working Voltage) with a low leakage current of less than 2 μA. Safety approved to ES 60601-1 and UL 62368-1 for 2 x MOPP applications and supported by both an ISO 14971 risk management file and ISO 13485 (design & production). High efficiency up to 87% and high-grade components allow the converters to perform reliably over an ambient temperature range of –40°C to +95°C (with de-rating >55°C). The series consists of 18 models with input ranges of 9-18 / -18-36 / 36-75 VDC and single or dual 5 / 12 / 15 VDC outputs. These converters are reliable solutions for not only medical equipment but also for demanding applications such as transportation, control & measurement or IGBT drivers.

Power Integrations introduces InnoSwitch5 offline flyback switcher IC

Power Integrations has announced the launch of its InnoSwitch5-Pro family. These high-efficiency, programmable flyback switcher ICs achieve over 95% efficiency.

This is made possible by a unique secondary-side control scheme enabling zero-voltage switching (ZVS) without the need for an expensive, separate high-voltage switch. The innovative IC features either a 750 or a 900V PowiGaN primary switch, a primary-side controller, FluxLink isolated feedback, and a secondary controller with an I2C interface. This combination is ideal for creating compact, highly efficient single- or multi-port USB PD adapters for notebooks, high-end mobile phones, and other portable consumer products, including those requiring the new USB PD EPR (Extended Power Range) protocol.
