The device features a patented emulated current mode Constant On-Time (COT) control scheme which provides the fast transient response of conventional COT controllers without any of the compromises. The XR75100 features exceptional 0.008%/V line regulation across the entire input voltage range of 5-40V and 1% output accuracy, enabling engineers to implement easier designs. Offering an adjustable output voltage from 0.6-30V, the XR75100 provides supervisory and protection features for proper sequencing, safe operation under abnormal operating conditions and light load operation.
In order to eliminate loop compensation and reduce overall component count for easier system design, Exar’s COT control loop enables operation with ceramic output capacitors.
James Lougheed, Vice President, Power Management Products, Exar, commented: “The XR75100 has been developed in response to our broad spectrum of industrial customers who need to power modern high power FPGAs and DSPs from traditional sources such as 24V AC and DC. The 40V operating range allows for a wide range of input fluctuations. Hardware engineers responsible for board level power systems will appreciate Exar’s patented COT control scheme, which makes the XR75100 easy to design with and keeps the component count low.”
Available now in a RoHS compliant, 16-pin 3×3 QFN package, the XR75100 switching controller is priced from $1.59 (USD) in 1,000 unit quantities.
