SolarEdge setting new standards in system design and safety technology with new power optimisers

SolarEdge, a global leader in smart energy technology, has announced the launch of its new S-Series range of Power Optimisers, now available for residential installations in Europe.  The S-Series introduces an expanded set of advanced safety features, as well as a new and innovative system design that makes system installation smarter, easier and faster.

S-Series Power Optimisers offer module-level visibility of site performance, to maximise system uptime and energy production. The new S-Series range of Power Optimisers features SolarEdge Sense Connect, an industry-first technology that can prevent potential thermal anomalies at the connector level, in addition to the traditional method of detecting them at the string level. In addition to the comprehensive safety suite with integrated SafeDCfunctionality, rapid shutdown, and module-level monitoring, the S-Series offers improved cable layout for simplified and faster installations.

“Just as advances in energy efficiency and improved economics are important for the proliferation of solar energy, so is attention to safety and installation practices that champion installer and firefighter safety,” states Alfred Karlstetter, General Manager of SolarEdge Europe. “As a manufacturer, we will continue to set benchmarks in industry safety standards by focusing on innovative solutions that bring ever more reliability to the industry. “

Designed to accommodate all residential module sises being introduced to the market, the S-Series Power Optimisers support high power rating and high input current (up to 15A), M10, and G12 PV modules. The new streamlined S-Series range of Power Optimisers simplifies project design and logistics.

All S-Series Power Optimisers are tested, approved and comply with EU regulations, and are within the limits stated in the current EMC directive including EN61000-6-3 the EU standard that is directly linked to the EMC directive; and EN55011, the EU 's latest standard for radio frequency interference characteristics.

Future-proofed

Designed to meet evolving module requirements, the S440 Power Optimiser (for modules up to 440W), and the S500 Power Optimiser (for modules up to 500W), are the first to be released in the residential series. The S-Series range of Power Optimisers for commercial applications and an expanded range of residential Power Optimisers is expected to be available in early 2022.

SolarEdge Sense Connect technology is expected to be available via firmware update in Q1 2022.
