It uses optically coupled MOSFET technology to provide 4000V rms of input-to-output isolation and is claimed to offer the best combination of load voltage and load current available with a 4000V rms isolation voltage. The optically coupled outputs use IXYS ICD’s patented OptoMOS architecture, are controlled by an infra red LED. IXYS is now part of Littelfuse.
Typical on-resistance rating is just 0.51Ω and maximum rating is just 0.66 Ω, to allow “significantly lower” on-resistance than competitive devices, says the company. The 600V blocking voltage rating provides sufficient design margin for both 110V rms/220V rms power line applications for universal power supplies.
The low drive power requirements reduce the relay’s power consumption, while snubbing circuits are not needed to suppress arcs when switching.
The device’s plastic package has a flammability rating of UL 94 V-0.
The SIP power relays are in volume production now.
