Industrial and programmable power supply specialist, Safety Power Group, has added two new models to the SM1500 series 1500W DC power supplies featuring auto ranging outputs. Based on 100kHz MOSFET power conversion technology, the new SM52-AR-60 and SM400-AR-8 models both offer auto ranging outputs over two ranges. The SM52-AR-60 outputs are 0 to 26V from 0 to 60A and 0 to 52V from 0 to 30A while the SM400-AR-8 ranges are 0 to 200V from 0 to 8A and 0 to 400V from 0 to 4A. Efficiency is up to 91% and active power factor correction, PF = 0.99.
The new models offer additional interface choices, encompassing Ethernet, CANbus and Profibus while an analogue programming connector is available with an optional ISO AMP interface to prevent earth loops. Both supplies also enable simple master-slave set up via standard UTP cables eliminating the need for master-slave serial adapters. Other features of the new generation SM1500 series include interlock functions, high speed programming options, power sink indicators via front panel LED, digital encoder options, output on/off function and key lock functions to secure remote local and output on/off.

Additional features include very low output ripple and spikes, very stable output voltage or current (6.10-5 to 10-4), excellent dynamic response to load changes, and voltage/current control with 10-turn potentiometers (resolution 0.03%).

Operating from wide input voltage range 90 to 265V AC, 48 to 62Hz and designed for long life at full power, the new SM1500 series models are supplied with 48 hour burn-in to ensure the highest reliability. Both new models feature full protection against all overload and short circuit conditions and produce very low RF emissions for use in light industrial environments with RF immunity suitable for industrial applications. A low noise blower ensures quiet operation as fan speed adapts to temperature.
