Relays protect EVs and solar installations

Electronica preview: Solar power and e-mobility applications will be a theme at the Zettle Group stand, as the company introduces multiple ranges of relays.

Electric vehicle (EV) charging relays, the AZEV116 and AZEV132 series are next-generation IEC mode 2 relays that are scheduled for release in 2019. They are designed to survive high momentary currents that may occur on short circuits, for reliable operation without contact welding, says the company. Both relay series will also feature a potential monitoring contact, as required by IEC62752:2016, making them suitable for applications demanding high security and safety.

Other highlights will be the AZSR1160, a 160A high-power PCB solar relay, designed for PV applications of up to 36.8kVA (single phase 230V AC) / 111kVA (three phase 400V AC), and the AZSR190, a 90A high-power PCB relay for solar inverters. A 65A economy version, the AZSR165, is also available. Both are suitable for commercial and roof top installations. For residential and smaller roof systems, the AZSR131 can also be used for EV wall charging units.
