Quad-power-module enables fast transient response

With the MPM54532 MPS offers a quad-power-module for up to 16V Input and four outputs delivering 5A each.

It is in stock at distributor Codico

The device is fully programmable via I²C interface an allows a complete power solution with built-in turn-on/-off sequencing control, configurable soft start (SS), compensation and various protection thresholds.

Constant-on-time (COT) control provides ultra-fast transient response. The output voltage (VOUTx) (where x = A, B, C, or D) is adjustable via the I2C bus or preset via the multiple-time programmable (MTP) memory. The power-on/-off sequence is also configurable via the MTP, or it can be controlled via the I2C.

The MPM54524 offers configurable active voltage positioning (AVP), which generates a droop voltage (VDROOP). This allows four channels to operate in parallel with passive current balancing.

In addition, buck regulator A (buck A) and buck regulator B (buck B) can operate in parallel for up to 10A in interleaving mode, which enables active current balancing.

Full protection features include under-voltage lockout (UVLO), over-current protection (OCP), over-voltage protection (OVP), under-voltage protection (UVP), and thermal shutdown.

Once the optimal setup for an application is found, the part can be ordered at MPS with a designated part-number and with the desired registers preset.

The MPM54524 requires a minimal number of external components, and it is available in a compact ECLGA-51 (8x8x2.9mm) package.
