SL Power Electronics Corporation, the company established following the merger of Condor DC Power and Ault, announces the introduction of its next-generation single port power source for Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) applications with 10baseT and 100baseT systems.

The Ault PW180 family provides power to devices through RJ45 jacks and data over a single Ethernet cable. This compact, self-contained device provides an efficient and cost-effective solution to systems designers confronting the need for additional electrical outlets or the placement of network access points.

Through PoE technology, devices such as IP phones, wireless network access points, HVAC thermostats, security cameras, PDAs, cell phones, RFID tag readers and gaming equipment can be powered using models with the Ault PW180 family.

The Ault PW180 controls costs and saves time for OEMs because it eliminates the need for expensive electrical contractors, scheduling and compliance with local code standards. Since PoE carries both power and data over a single Ethernet cable, the application is powered through the same cable it already uses to communicate.

“Our goal is to provide our customers with affordable Power-over-Ethernet solutions that offer high performance and solid reliability,” said Nigel Davies, European Managing Director, SL Power Electronics Corp. “Our new PW180 family is competitively priced while meeting the growing PoE needs of OEMs worldwide.”

There are two versions in the Ault PW180 family that address different end-user needs and applications. The Ault PW180KA powers proprietary equipment with up to 20W of power. The Ault PW180KB powers equipment up to 15.4W and is compliant with IEEE 802.3af whereby the power source recognizes a signature before enabling full output power. The Ault PW180 also protects against more than one power supply per cable, regardless of polarity.

AC input voltage range is 100 to 250 VAC and AC input frequency from 47Hz to 63Hz. The PW180 complies with EMI/RFI regulations, is CE compliant and meets safety approvals for OEMs to support customers worldwide.

Each model has input configuration options of either IEC320 with ground or shaver plug. The Ault PW180KA is available immediately for approximately $7.50 in OEM quantities of 1,000. The PW180KB compliant version is available for $9.90 in OEM quantities of 1,000.
