Claimed by the manufacturer to support the industry's widest common mode input voltage range of 0-60V, the ISL2802x family of digital power monitors has been unveiled by Intersil. The three devices provide full featured bi-directional, high-side and low-side digital current sense and voltage monitors with a serial interface.

Suited for telecomms, industrial and consumer applications, the ISL2802x family integrates a native resolution sigma-delta ADC to facilitate precision measurements. The wide input common mode voltage range offers a high level of safety margin that is often necessary in wired, wireless and data infrastructure applications. The devices also operate over a temperature range from -40 to +125°C in order to provide greater design flexibility.

The ISL2802x family consists of the three unique products: the ISL28022 is a highly efficient digital power monitor suited for cost constrained applications; the ISL28023 full featured PMBus compatible digital power monitor integrates the analog comparators, a voltage regulator, a DAC and a low voltage auxiliary channel in a single chip; and the ISL28025 is a high precision digital power monitor with integrated analog comparators and voltage regulator. These integrated analog comparators enable continuous monitoring of the inputs, enabling a very fast response time of 500ns and real-time alerts for rapid system shut off if necessary.

Philip Chesley, Vice President, Precision Products, Intersil, commented: “We’ve taken the best of our current sense amplifier technology and augmented it with digital power monitoring to deliver a robust and highly accurate, but simple to use family of digital power monitors. Customers get all of the benefits of advanced features while simplifying their design efforts.”

Available now, the ISL28022 is offered in a 16 lead QFN or 10 lead MSOP, the ISL28023 is offered in a 24 lead 4x4mm QFN package and the ISL28025 is offered in a 16 ball WLCP. The ISL2802x family of digital power monitors are priced from $0.95 (USD) in 1,000 unit quantities.

Intersil also provides the ISL28022EVKIT1Z, ISL28023EVKIT1Z and ISL28025EVKIT1Z evaluation kits for $70 (USD) each.
