Power management solutions for Altera’s Arria 10 FPGAs

To complement the power saving advantages of the Arria 10 FPGA, this solution provides two key advantages. A 6-bit parallel VID that interfaces directly with the Arria 10’s SmartVID reduces the FPGA’s static and dynamic power consumption, whilst ultralow value and temperature compensated DCR load current sensing maximise efficiency and load current precision.

Powering the high speed transceivers is Linear Technology’s 20A µModule regulator (LTM4637), which provides the simplest and quickest solution by integrating a shielded inductor, MOSFETs and DC/DC regulator into a small 15mm² LGA or BGA package.
