Photo MOSFET relay replaces electro-mechanical relays

PCIM Europe 2017: Designed for industrial and automotive applications, the ASSR-601J high-voltage photo MOSFET relay has been released by Broadcom.

The compact solid state relay bi-directional signal switch is qualified to AEC-Q101 and operates over the industrial temperature range of -40 to +110°C, and up to +125°C for automotive applications. It also meets IEC/EN/DIN EN 60747-5-5.

Broadcom says that it can be used to replace the conventional electro-mechanical relays, offering improved reliability, says the company.

Breakdown voltage is over 1500V and the relay has a wide 5mm creepage across output contacts. The low off-state leakage current of less than 1µA enables accurate insulation resistance measurement.
The MOSFET relay is equivalent to one Form A electro-mechanical relay and is available in a 16pin SOIC. It can be used in industrial resistance measurement applications, such as battery management systems, dollar photovoltaic panel ground fault monitoring, electric vehicle (EV) charging systems and motor winding leakage current detection. It can also be used as an inrush current limiter protection in motor drives.

The relay is available from August 2017.
