Eliminating the requirement for system level calibration, the OPA192 is an operational amplifier (op amp) which realises stable offset voltage drift over the full specified temperature range of -40 to +125°C. Texas Instruments claim that their OPA192 is the industry’s first 36V rail-to-rail input and output op amp to achieve precision offset voltage and drift without using auto-zero techniques.

Thanks to the fast settling and high-output drive, as well as the precision, offered by the OPA192, designers can use it to drive ADCs in high-voltage, precision data acquisition systems such as test and measurement, and industrial sensors and controls. For precision high-voltage measurement in industrial automation and control applications, the rail-to-rail input and output enables maximum input dynamic range to provide a precise 36V input range.

System stability for high-voltage buffers and multiplexed data acquisition is enabled by a 60mA output current drive and 1nF capacitive-load drive integrated into the OPA192. TI’s patented package-level trimming architecture, e-Trim, is used in order to offer 5uV offset voltage and 0.2uV/C offset drift over temperature without the use of internally clocked auto-zero techniques. This increases the accuracy of industrial sensor signal conditioning.

To quickly evaluate the functionality and versatility of the OPA192, TI offers a DIP adapter evaluation module or a universal op amp evaluation module. Additionally, the op amp is included in four new TI Precision Designs reference designs to help engineers quickly evaluate and customise a system. Also supported by TI's WEBENCH Filter Designer, a TINA-TI SPICE model is available with TI Precision Design circuits to accurately simulate and debug the circuit.

The OPA192 36V rail-to-rail input and output op amp is available in three package options: a 5x4mm SO-8 package, a 3x3mm MSOP-8, or a 3x1.75mm SOT23-5 package. It is available now for sampling and in volume production, with a suggested retail price of $1.35 (USD) in 1,000-unit quantities.
