OMRON Electronic Components Europe has launched a new surface-mount socket for its G6K through-hole relays, aimed at streamlining printed circuit board assembly and easing relay replacement in the field.
The P6K sockets, compatible with the G6K series, allow relays to be inserted without soldering during manufacturing. The sockets can be reflowed alongside other surface-mount components, eliminating the need for plated-through holes and reducing PCB complexity and assembly costs. They also support rapid relay removal, enabling quick repairs without de-soldering.
OMRON said the sockets offer reliable electrical performance, with low contact resistance of 30 milliohms, and maintain durability over 50 insertion and removal cycles. They are rated for up to 1A per contact, with insulation resistance of 1,000MΩ and an operating range from -40°C to 85°C.
The G6K relays, measuring 6.5mm × 10mm × 5mm, are available in coil voltages from 3V to 24V DC and are widely used across industrial machinery, test instruments, office equipment, telecom boards, and security systems.
“This new socket design provides flexibility and repairability, allowing relays to be replaced in the field with minimal tools,” OMRON said.
