PowerWAVE 6000 from Uninterruptible Power Supplies Ltd (UPSL), is siad to deliver the best combination of energy efficiency, availability and power performance in its class. This new addition to the PowerWAVE UPS range is being introduced at a power protection seminar on 28 April at Chelsea Football Club.
Offering both intelligent energy management and maximum power protection, the PowerWAVE 6000 is available in six power ratings ranging from 60 - 200kVA and has been designed to reduce energy consumption, generate less CO2, minimise space requirements and provide significant cost savings.

By comparison with equivalent stand-alone UPS systems, the PowerWAVE 6000 dramatically reduces the overall footprint of the UPS to 0.41m² (up to 100kVA) and 0.64m² (up to 200kVA) - offering a class leading power density of up to 250kW/m². Cost savings equal to expenditure on power and cooling can be achieved within a few years of operation.

“IT managers who are under pressure to balance rising energy demands with cost control can gain significant savings by installing high efficiency UPS systems,” said Alan Luscombe, UPSL sales and marketing director. “The PowerWAVE 6000 combines scalable architecture and energy saving technology, delivering flexible growth options and ensuring low cost of ownership.”

With transformerless design and Energy Saving Inverter Switching (ESIS), the PowerWAVE 6000 provides high double-conversion efficiencies of up to 95.5 percent, even with partial loads. The system provides fully rated output-active power without power de-rating in the range of 0.9 leading to 0.73 lagging in compliance with modern IT equipment, such as blade servers.

Thanks to the very low input THDi (< 3.5% at 100% load) and the near unity input power factor of 0.99, even with partial loads, PowerWAVE 6000 avoids unnecessary over-sizing of generator sets and upstream distribution switchgear as well as the use of additional expensive compensating filter solutions.

Up to ten PowerWAVE 6000 units may be paralleled to build a single system and can be used with common or separate battery configurations. Built with Decentralized Parallel Architecture (DPA)™, it enables the scaling of units for power capacity increase or for redundancy without the need to transfer critical loads to raw mains. By duplicating critical components, DPA also eliminates the single points of failure inherent in some traditional UPS systems.

The PowerWAVE 6000 is designed to meet the growing availability and power protection demands of a wide area of mission critical applications in the IT industry, telecommunications, manufacturing process control, transportation, traffic control, automotive control, financial services, healthcare and other sectors.

PowerWAVE 6000 meets the challenges of today’s IT infrastructures, ensuring the highest level of power protection availability. Its best-in-class performance supports organisation’s requirements to build and operate energy-efficient and environmentally friendly data centres and computer rooms.
