Following the acquisition of Minneapolis-based Ault Power Supplies by SL Industries in February and the subsequent merger with its existing power supply manufacturer, Condor DC Power, SL announces the formation of a new company that will embrace both power brands.
Called SL Power Electronics Corporation, the new company will have aggregate sales in excess of $90 million. The company will continue to manufacture both Condor and Ault products but they will now be supported by a single organization.
Condor recently established its European HQ in the United Kingdom and this group will now be responsible for sales, technical support and marketing for both product lines within Europe and the Middle East.
Commenting on the news of the new company, Nigel Davies (pictured), who will run SL Power Electronics Corporation in Europe, said “The combination of the Condor and Ault product lines will make us the clear global leader in medical power products with the widest range of internal (Condor) and external power supplies (Ault). We now have standard products ranging from 7W to 6kW to meet most applications but continue to see an increasing demand for modified or full custom solutions”. Adds Davies
“Another clear trend we are seeing is the move by major medical systems manufacturers to reduce their component suppliers and, in the case of power, to a single power supply manufacturer.” Says Davies. “No other power supply manufacturer can match our capability in the medical sector”.
SL Power Electronics’ medical strengths are matched equally by the commercial products offered by Condor and Ault. The Ault range is particularly strong in external chargers and power supplies – an area not addressed by Condor who focus on internal power supply products. Ault is also a market leader in power over Ethernet (PoE) technology.
The acquisition of Ault brings to the new company a new 6000m² manufacturing and support center in China. This will not only allow the company to increase the price competitiveness of its product offering, but also to develop its market throughout the Far East.
