At the MT-CONNECT in Nuremberg, more than 150 companies from the European MedTec Business met for discussing the latest trends and guidelines in MedTec industry. When EOS power presented its medical up to class-2 powersupplies at MT-CONNECT, the EOS team made an exciting observation: While everyone is still talking about the size of the power supplies, which is still very true for home devices, the real crucial factor for sales support for larger devices at the MT connect was the cooling.

The (M)WLC550 Series has a power density exceeding 24W per inch³ and offers cooling and installation options for all devices, which require small size AC/DC power solutions in a 3 x 5 x 1.5in standard profile.

With dimensions 76.2 × 127 × 38.1mm (3 × 5 × 1.5") the (M)WLC550 delivers a total power of 550W; up to 250W this AC/DC requires conduction cooling. The underside is the heat sink of the power supply unit and can be mounted on the heat sink or the housing of the end device.

The heat is distributed over a large area or can be conducted directly from the customer housing. By using an additional 3mm thick aluminium base plate with dimensions of 177mm x 102mm, an output power of up to 250W is achieved from an output voltage of 24VDC up to max. 50°C ambient temperature.

Second cooling highlight are the various installation positions (horizontal, vertical and overhead) which do not result in any performance restrictions. This allows the developer maximum flexibility in product development, as the power supply can be placed differently at any time.

With active ventilation, the unit delivers up to 550W. Combined with the possibility of contact cooling, the heat load in the system can be noticeably reduced. This has a positive effect on the service life. Medical customers benefit from the BF design including risk management and from compliance to the 4th edition IEC 60601-1-2:2014 EMC requirements.

Optimising space, efficiencies and cooling capabilities the M(W)LC550 series will allow to maximise the operational capabilities of the applications. Samples of the M(W)LC550 series can be ordered as of now.
