LOW PROFILE SMD POINT OF LOAD CONVERTERS FEATURE ADJUSTABLE OUTPUTS

Just 4.5mm high, the latest CE-10xx range of low-profile surface mount, non-isolated point of load DC/DC converters designed and manufactured by TDK are now available from power supply specialists, Lambda under the new collaborative TDK – Lambda product brand. The CE series offer output voltages that can be set by the user, enabling a small number of types to cover a wide variety of application requirements. Their wide input voltage range further enhances the versatility of these products, which are aggressively priced.

Type CE-1003 and CE-1004 converters are designed to operate with DC inputs from 6V to 16V, and can deliver a maximum output current of 1.5A. For low-voltage applications where more current is needed, Lambda offers the CE-1005 converter which operates from input between 3V and 5.25V, and which can deliver up to 2.5A output.

In order to meet the critical voltage requirements of a wide array of semiconductor chips, CE-1003 converters offer a choice of eight preset output voltages from 1.5V to 3.3V. The required voltage is selected simply by grounding the device’s three programming pins in various combinations. Type CE-1004 converters use the same selection system, but cover the output voltage range 3.3V to 5.0V.

For non standard output voltages, the CE-1005 POL converters can be set by means of an external resistor to any value from 1V to 3.3V.

All models in the CE-10xx range are non-isolated, and all have integral overcurrent protection, as well as provision for external on/off control. The units offer very high operating efficiencies – up to 91.5% typical – and have a wide operating temperature range of -40º to +70ºC at full load. With modest derating, the CE-1003 and CE-1004 models can be used at up to +85ºC.

Fully compliant with the requirements of the RoHS directive, the new converters also incorporate five-sided metal shielding that ensures excellent EMC performance. SMD versions can be supplied to suit either tape-on-reel or tray-feed board assembly systems.
