LDO suited for automotive and avionic power supplies

Featuring a 1.8-45V input voltage range and an adjustable 0.6-40V output voltage range, the LT3065 has been introduced by Linear Technology. This LDO linear regulator is suitable for avionic power supplies, automotive power supplies, industrial power supplies, battery-powered systems and instruments requiring optimum run time, and high reliability power supplies requiring more extensive protection.

Delivering up to 500mA output current with a 300mV dropout voltage at full load, the LT3065 features a single REF/BYP pin capacitor which provides low noise operation-only 25µVRMS across a 10Hz-100kHz bandwidth. With highly accurate output voltage tolerance at ±2% over line, load and temperature, the voltage linear regulator features reference soft-start functionality to prevent output voltage overshoot at turn-on.

Optimising stability and transient response, the LT3065 operates with a very small, low cost, 3.3µF ceramic output capacitor. With a power good flag to indicate output regulation, the LT3065 has one resistor which programs the external precision current limit (±10% over temperature). The LDO regulator features very low power consumption of 55µA (operating) and less than 1µA (in shutdown). Additionally, the voltage regulator features internal protection circuitry including reverse-battery protection, reverse-output protection, reverse-current protection, current limit with foldback, and thermal limiting.

The LT3065 LDO regulator is offered in E-, I-, H- and MP-grade versions: the E- and I-grade versions operate over a temperature range from -40 to +125°C; the H-grade version is rated from -40 to +150°C; and the MP-grade version operates from -55 to +150°C. Available in thermally enhanced 12-lead MSOP and 10-lead 3x3mm DFN packages, pricing starts at $1.85 (USD) each for the E-grade version in 1,000 unit quantities.
