TTi (Thurlby Thandar Instruments) has updated its QL series of laboratory power supplies to include a number of improvements including the latest safety binding post terminals. The QL series is a range of high-performance linear regulated power supplies offering unusually high levels of precision and stability. Setting resolutions of 1 mV and 0.1 mA are provided, and output ripple and noise are below 0.35 mV peak-to-peak. Single and triple output models are available with output voltages of up to 56 V and output currents of up to 5 A. Maximum power is more than 100 W per main output.
Excellent line and load regulation is matched with rapid recovery from transients. Remote sense terminals are provided for perfect regulation at the load. Local or remote sensing can be selected at the touch of a button. Each model is available with or without a full complement of bus interfaces
that include RS232, GPIB, and USB.

The user interface has been designed to provide rapid control whilst guarding against any possibility of mistakes. The QL series provides both numeric and rotary control. Direct numeric entry provides a fast and safe method for entering precise values with the new setting being previewed before it is confirmed. For applications where the voltage or current must be gradually changed, the rotary control allows settings to be incremented or decremented in a variety of step sizes.

The QL series has ten non-volatile memories per output for rapid recall of settings. Stored values are previewed onto the display before being confirmed. A further power-down memory ensures that all settings are restored when the unit is powered back on.

User settable overvoltage and overcurrent trips are included. An isolated output is provided on the rear panel for direct control of other equipment. Automatic shutdown is implemented for overheating through blocked ventilation, regulator failure, or incorrect sense-lead wiring.

The QL series is suitable for bench use or rack mounting. Rear terminals are provided for rack mounting, and up to three single output units can be mounted in the optional rack mount.
