Offering ultra-wide 4:1 inputs, the ATA series of 3W isolated DC/DC converters has been introduced by Artesyn Embedded Technologies. The series comprises 16 variants: eight have 9-36V inputs and the other eight have 18-75V inputs. Within each of these two categories, there is a choice of five single output models, offering voltages of 3.3, 5, 12, 15 or 24V, and three dual output models offering ±5, ±12 or ±15V.

Each variant is available in a mini dual-in-line package for through-hole mounting or a mini surface-mount package, both fully encapsulated in an ultra-compact 24x13.7x8mm (0.94x0.54x0.32") plastic case. The surface-mount versions accommodate an ambient operating temperature range from -40 to +80°C, while the through-hole versions can handle temperatures from -40 to +85°C, both with suitable derating.

Offering up to 80% conversion efficiency, the converters use 350kHz fixed frequency switching to minimise the need for external EMI filtering and comply with the EN 55022 class A and FCC level A standards for conducted noise.

Artesyn ATA series converters with output voltages of 5V or higher are rated at 3W power output, while the four 3.3V models are rated at 2W. Standard features include 1,500VDC I/O isolation, remote on/off and continuous (hiccup mode) protection against output short-circuit.
