Industrial DC/DC converter range extended with 6 and 8W models

Artesyn Embedded Technologies has extended its range of low power output industrial DC/DC converters, targeting a diverse range of applications, including instrumentation, data communication, telecommunication and computer peripheral equipment, and industrial automation.

The new models in Artesyn’s ATA series isolated DC/DC converters cover 6W and 8W power outputs and comprise 14 variants per power output series. The DIP-16 form factor minimises occupied board space and offers very high power density.

All ATA series converters feature ultra-wide 4:1 inputs; seven of the models have 9-36V inputs and the other seven have 18-75V inputs. Within each of these two categories, there is a choice of five single output models, offering voltages of 3.3, 5, 12, 15 or 24V, and two dual output models offering +12/-12V or +15/-15V.

Fully encapsulated in a compact 0.94×0.54″ (24×13.7mm) shielded metal case, the converters have a height of just 0.32″ (8mm). The 8W models can accommodate operating temperatures from -40 to 80°C, while the 6W models can operate up to 90°C, both with suitable derating.

Offering up to 86% conversion efficiency, the converters use 370kHz fixed frequency switching to minimise the need for external EMI filtering and comply with the EN 55022 class A and FCC level A standards for conducted noise. Standard features include 1,500VDC input/output isolation, no load power consumption, no minimum load requirement, remote on/off, overload voltage and short-circuit protection.
