The AONS32310, from Alpha and Omega Semiconductor, is a 30V MOSFET with low on-resistance and a high SOA (safe operating area) capability.

The high SOA MOSFET fis intended for demanding applications, such as 12V hot swap and e-fuses. (E-fuses are ICs which replace larger protection devices, e.g. resettable polymeric fuses and conventional fuses.)

A high SOA is essential in server hot swap applications where the MOSFET needs to be robust to manage the high inrush current effectively. The AONS32310 delivers high robustness with a 30V MOSFET in a DFN 5.0 x 6.0mm package. It has a maximum Rds(on) of 1.05mΩ at an applied gate-source voltage equal to 10V GS to increase reliability.

Alpha and Omega’s director of product marketing, Peter H Wilson, believes, “The hot swap MOSFET is one of the critical components that must be robust and reliable to meet server demands. AONS32310 has high SOA with low on-resistance to meet [data centre infrastructure] demanding application requirements.”

The AONS32310 is immediately available in production quantities with a lead-time of 16 weeks.
