XP Power has announced the availability of its CLC175 single output, open frame AC/DC power supply. Rated at 175 Watts this low cost compact unit, measuring just 76.2 x 127 x 31.8 mm (3 x 5 x 1.25 inches), fits into a standard 1U space and offers a power density of 9.3 Watts per cubic inch.
Resonant topology converter techniques used in the design contribute to make the CLC175 highly efficient, typically 87%, and gives it a very flat efficiency curve. This approach also results in an improved EMI performance as well as low ripple and noise. Only 10 CFM of forced airflow is required for the power supply to achieve its full power output. No external voltage source is required to power an external fan since the unit includes a standard 12 VDC, 0.5A fan output.
The CLC175 is available with output voltages of 12, 24 or 48 VDC, from a universal input of 85-264 VAC. Remote sense is included as standard to compensate for up to a 0.5 VDC total voltage drop in the end-system. No additional external components are required for the unit to meet Class B conducted EMC limits saving both cost and space. The units operate from 0 to +70C, with full power available up to +50C.

An options package can be specified, suffix –A, to include power OK, remote on/off and 5V standby. Making these features optional allows the base model to be priced more competitively.
The CLC175 is fully approved to worldwide safety standards. The CLC175 is available now from Farnell or direct from XP Power.
