During the charging process NiMH cells rely on correct termination and charging algorithms to prevent cells from overheating and causing permanent damage. For large capacity batteries such as the 9Ah and 13Ah cells the charger termination is more critical due to the thermal issues of the battery. To overcome these issues the NiMH SafeCharger incorporates three types of charge termination, voltage sensor, temperature sensor and safety timer. Furthermore the charger can recharge the packs in less than 6 hours from a fully discharged state.
