Encapsulated medical power supplies have class II input

TDK Corporation announces the introduction of the KMS-A series of single output, medically certified 15 – 60W encapsulated power supplies. With a Class II input, the products require no earth ground connection, making them suitable for use in a range of medical, dental and home healthcare. They are also suitable for broadcast, test & measurement and industrial equipment applications.

Comprising of three power levels, 15, 30 and 60W, the KMS-A is available in 5, 9, 12, 15 and 24V output voltages. Off-load power draw is <0.1W for the KMS15A and KMS30A and <0.3W for the KMS60A with product efficiencies as high as 89%.  All models can operate from a wide range input voltage of 90-264VAC.

The KMS-A power supplies are suitable for board-mounting and are enclosed in UL 94V-0 rated resin cases.  The 15W measures 52.5×27.5×23.5mm, the 30W 64.0×45.0x23.5mm, and the 60W 89.0×63.5×27.0mm. The products can operate convection cooled in ambient temperatures of -40 to +85°C, with appropriate derating above 50°C, and have a maximum operating altitude of 5,000m.

The series has been certified to UL/CSA/IEC/EN 60950-1, ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1, IEC/EN 60601-1 and carries the CE mark for the Low Voltage and RoHS2 Directives. TDK-Lambda’s medical sa compliance extends to providing 4kVAC, 2 x MOPPs (Means of Patient Protection) input to output isolation and a touch current of <100µA at 264VAC.  All models comply with EN 55011-B (conducted and radiated) emissions and EN 61000-4-2 immunity standards.
