Space-saving and cost-effective power supplies for industrial applications, the BDC series of encapsulated DC/DC converters have been announced by Bicker Elektronik. Supplied in shielded aluminium cases, the converters are available both as printed circuit modules (BDC) with industry standard pinning, as well as DIN rail versions (BDCD) with practical terminal strips.

The removable DIN rail mounting bracket enables the chassis to be mounted flexibly and quickly with four fixing screws. With output power ratings of 10-50W, typical uses include decentralised power supplies, in vision, data and communication systems, as well as all types of measurement, control and monitoring technology.

The 38 different models of the series feature a 2:1 input voltage range (9-18VDC in the V series; 18-36VDC in the C series, and the 36-75VDC in the T series). The precisely controlled modules provide single DC output voltages of +5, +12, +15 and +24V or dual DC output voltages of ±12 and ± 15V. Adjustment of the output voltage in the ±10% range is possible with the 30 and 50W converters when an external trimming resistor is used.

All models in the series feature low ripple and the high isolation voltage between input and output (1500VDC) and very good EMC characteristics (CISPR22 / EN55022 Class A). An external remote on/off control feature and numerous standard integrated protective functions round off the functional and safety profile of the BDC series.

These DC/DC converters allow fan-less operation over an extended temperature range from -40 to +85°C. Due to their high level of efficiency - up to 93% - the heat generated by the series is kept to a minimum. An MTBF of more than 1,000,000 hours (at 25°C as per MIL-HDBK-217F) underlines the high reliability of the modules, especially in harsh 24/7 industrial operations. In addition to the long-term availability of at least five years, Bicker Elektronik guarantees the BDC series for three years, providing customers with a high level of investment security.
