Five models with 2.5 to 18 Ah rated capacities:

Even weighting up to 70% less than comparably high-capacity lead batteries, they last up to 5x as long and also contribute to cutting fuel consumption by up to 0.3 l/100 km. These are just three of the many benefits of the new highly safe Lithium Powerbloc Series – one presented by BMZ at electronica 2012 in Hall B2 / Stand 474 and made possible from the use of the high-tech lithium-iron-phosphate (LiFePO4) technology.

Thus the five new Powerbloc models designed for 2.5, 3.3, 5.5, 11 and 18 Ah rated capacities and a rated voltage of 13.2 V feature up to 800 and 1000 A in the case of the 11 and 18 Ah Powerbloc respectively – due in part to high pulse and continuous discharging currents – and a brief charging time. As a rule, 30 minutes is all you need to approach 90% of rated capacity using a 20 A charging current. Approx. 45 minutes is needed for full charging – just a fraction of up to the 14 hours which the usual type of lead batteries normally require. In addition, the Powerbloc rechargeable batteries – unlike the conventional batteries – can be fitted in any position.

In view of the absence of any memory effects with lithium batteries and regular, balanced discharging/charging of all cells, the Powerbloc models designed for a -30 to + 85 0C operating temperature range provide absolutely dependable starter services for up to 10 years. Particularly in micro and mild hybrids, the Powerblocs also ensure an excellent start/stop performance even in winter.

If not needed for a lengthy period, the extremely low self-discharge of a max. 1% to 2% per month also enables the Powerbloc batteries to be stored to the exclusion of any quality losses for a number of years at temperatures between -40 and +100 0C.

The Powerbloc rechargeable batteries deployed in a host of conventional motor bikes, ATVs, quads, enduros, golf buggies, ultra-lightweight planes and karts are manufactured absolutely free of any lead or acids in line with the EC 2002/95/EC (RoHs) directive and marketed complete with chargers through authorized dealers.
