Rectifier peak current and RMS input current are both reduced and a sine wave-like current is drawn from the grid. Lower electrical losses result in thermal unloading and allow for a better utilization of electrical system capacity. The required filter rating can easily be determined based upon the nominal power rating of an individual non-linear load or a group of such loads.
