Design considerations of high power density adapters

In this video Brian King, a systems application specialist at Texas Instruments discusses design considerations for high power density and high efficiency adapters. The video session will cover the basic requirements driving AC to DC adaptors and provide an introduction to the active clamp flyback topology as well as Texas Instruments’ UCC28780 controller.

It will also cover some important design considerations for high power density adapters and then finally review a 65 watt GaN-based USB PD adapter design. These concepts are applicable to high efficiency systems and are generally limited to around 100 watts or less.
