DC-input version added to MPRSeries power supply family

Providing additional input options for customers, ABB is expanding its line of compact, energy-efficient MPR power supplies with a new DC-input version. Both the AC-input and DC-input power supplies feature 9×2.15×1.57″ form factors, offering one of the most compact options available today, when it comes to power supply depth.

The MPR0712TE (AC-input version) and MPR0712DC (DC-input version) medium-power units are interchangeable, offering greater flexibility in end application designs that require both input options. The MPR rectifiers achieve power densities of 23W/inch3 and energy efficiencies of up to 94% at 50% load, achieving an 80 PLUS Platinum grade.

The MPR0712TE features a front 90-to-264V AC input, rear +12V DC output, and a 700W output power. The MPR0712DC allows for a front -44 to -72-volt DC input and a rear +12volt DC output with a 700W output power. Both the AC and DC versions can operate over a wide temperature range of -5°C to 50°C.

The 9-inch-long, hot-swappable power supplies are well-suited for 12V distributed power architectures, mid-end and blade servers, networking equipment and attached storage, routers and switches, as well as advanced workstations. Both the AC and DC versions feature a PMBus-compliant I2C communications bus, allowing electrical engineers to integrate a range of monitoring and control capabilities into their system designs.

The power supplies are packed with additional features such as active current sharing, remote sensing ability, and a 12V standby output voltage. The MPR power supplies also feature built-in overvoltage, overcurrent and overtemperature protections, helping to improve safety and reliability.
