Designed for small, low power applications, the APE1913-3 is a current mode step up converter from Advanced Power Electronics.

The device features an input voltage range from 2.6V to 5.5V, whilst the output voltage can be adjusted up to 27V. The 1.2MHz nominal operating frequency enables the use of small external inductors and capacitors and facilitates fast transient response. Extending battery life, the device features an internal soft-start resulting in a small inrush current. An internal power MOSFET with very low on-resistance (Rds(on)) ensures high efficiency.

The device automatically switches from PWM to PFM during light load conditions, which results in increased efficiency. Further to this, the converter also provides protection functions such as under-voltage lockout, current limit and thermal shutdown. Fully RoHS-compliant, the device is available in a halogen-free TSOT-23-5 package.

Ralph Waggitt, President/CEO, Advanced Power Electronics Corp. (USA) commented: “This converter includes the popular protection functions such as under-voltage lockout, current limit and thermal shutdown, and is a simple, cost-effective solution for a wide variety of applications.”
