Bourns, a manufacturer and supplier of electronic components for power, protection, and sensing solutions, has announced the addition of 20 new part numbers to its Multifuse Polymer PTC Resettable Fuse line.

Bourns designed these new higher power rated fuses to give customers greatly expanded overcurrent/overtemperature protection selection options in a smaller 1,206 footprint.

This smaller footprint allows customers to meet smaller board space requirements that can also help them reduce costs. These smaller package alternatives will also help designers meet various requirements such as for 16 Vmax. For instance, these fuse models in the 1,206 package size give designers a 67% board space savings compared to the Bourns Model MF-NSMF110/16-2 in the 1,812 package size.

The latest additions to the Model MF-NSMF Series showcase Bourns’ innovative freeXpansion technology that increases the performance of the fuse with the ability to handle higher currents and voltages, improves its resistance stability, and allows for a smaller footprint.

On top of the expanded design selection options that range from 14 to 34 choices, the new fuses feature a broad range of hold current (Ihold) options, extending from 0.05A to 2.0A and multiple elevated rated Voltage (Vmax) options, from 6VDC to 60VDC. These enhancements are particularly well-suited to provide highly reliable overcurrent and overtemperature protection while remaining well within specified product parameters in low DC voltage ports such as those commonly found in USB, HDMI, HDTV, PCs, laptops, data centres, and portable consumer electronics.

The 20 new Bourns Multifuse MF-NSMF family part numbers are available now. These models are RoHS compliant* and halogen free**

*RoHS Directive 2015/863, Mar 31, 2015 and Annex.

**Bourns considers a product to be "halogen free" if (a) the Bromine (Br) content is 900 ppm or less; (b) the Chlorine (Cl) content is 900 ppm or less; and (c) the total Bromine (Br) and Chlorine (Cl) content is 1500 ppm or less.
