Power Integrations, a leading supplier of analogue power conversion and management integrated circuits, and specialist technical distributor Avnet Abacus are hosting two UK technical design seminars. The seminars will enable attendees to learn how to design and implement cost effective LED driver circuits using the latest IC technology from Power Integrations.

LED driver technology is advancing rapidly. The combined requirements of high power factor, low harmonic distortion and dimming, combined with efficiencies of greater than 85%, compact size and thermal constraints combine to create new challenges for electronic engineers designing solid state lighting systems. The aim of the seminar is to provide knowledge and an understanding of how to implement small, cost effective, full-featured, driver designs that are ideally suited for volume manufacturing. Power Integrations will also reveal techniques and trade-offs for high reliability applications by eliminating electrolytic capacitors and opto-couplers.

The full day seminar programme includes:

· Matching your specification to a Power Integrations product family

· Cost effective design for no dimming, no-PFC isolated drivers up to 10W

· Flicker free dimming, high power factor isolated drivers up to 50W

· Non-isolated high power factor, flicker free dimming drivers up to 10W

· High reliability LED driver design

· Optimising designs using automated software

· Open forum Q & A session

The seminars will be hosted and presented by experienced and knowledgeable hardware design engineers. Design and implementation techniques will be illustrated using Power Integrations cutting edge Link-Switch-II, new LinkSwitch-PH and LinkSwitch-PL integrated circuits.

The seminars will cost €50 per delegate and are being held in Reading on Thursday October 7th and Manchester on Friday October 8th.
