Kaknevicius explains: “To implement a load discretely, a MOSFET needs to be used as a switching element. This is known as the Pass FET. By itself, the MOSFET is not a very robust solution, so additional components need to be used. In the case of a PMOS transistor, a control FET and resistor are added. To a controlled output voltage rise time to the solution, a capacitor needs to be added to slow the charge of the PMOS gate.”
