Easy-to-use, fully integrated and highly efficient DC/DC regulators with I²C/PMBus interfaces, the PMBus SupIRBuck voltage regulator family has been unveiled by Infineon Technologies. The integrated PWM controller, MOSFETs and Bootstrap diode make them space-efficient solutions, providing accurate power delivery for low output voltage and high current applications.

Due to the programmable digital interface with remote testing using telemetry, customers will benefit from up to 90% reduced design and test times, significantly shortening time-to-market. The highly integrated devices further reduce the board space by around 50% compared to conventional 2-chip solutions.

The SupIRBuck voltage regulators are suited for applications in data centres, network storage, wireless infrastructure, mass computing or industrial automation. The devices can be comprehensively configured via PMBus and the configuration stored in internal memory. 75 PMBus commands enable precise run-time control, fault status monitoring and telemetry of parameters like V in, V out, I out, T or P out. The synchronous buck regulators can also operate as a standard analogue regulator without any programming and can provide current and temperature telemetry in analogue format.

Infineon offers the IR38060 with an output current of 6A in a PQFN5x6 package. The IR38062, IR38063 and IR38064 provide 15, 25 and 35A, respectively, in PQFN5x7 packages. The devices are specified for the industrial temperature range from -40 to +125°C. The voltage regulators support a high switching frequency of up to 1.5MHz and high telemetry accuracy (I out ±5%). The accuracy of the reference voltage is specified with 0.5%. All derivates are available in high quantities.
