50W DC/DC converters operate with 90-92% efficiency
MINMAX has claimed that its MKWI50 series of 50W ultra-wide 4:1 input ranges DC/DC converters achieve the highest power density available in the industry. Supplied in an encapsulated, shielded metal package with dimensions of just 50.8x25.4x10.16mm (2.0x1.0x0.4”), the series consists of 12 models offering 9-36 or 18-75VDC input ranges and single regulated outputs of 3.3-24VDC.
90-92% efficient operation enables an ambient operating temperature range from -40 to +80°C (more with the optional heatsink). Key features include 1,500VDC Isolation, remote On/Off, output trim and under-voltage shutdown as well as overload, short-circuit, overvoltage and over-temperature protection.
All models have been qualified per the CB scheme with safety approvals to UL/cUL/IEC/EN60950-1 standards making these converters suitable for use in battery operated equipment, instrumentation and distributed power architectures in communication/industrial applications where space is critical.
