Offering up to 94.5% efficiency for telecomms and networking equipment manufacturers, the AVO200 series DC/DC converters have been unveiled by Artesyn Embedded Technologies. The first two models in the series of 200W, fully-regulated, 1/8th brick DC/DC converters address the key 12 and 5V needs of communications installations.

They are suited to cost-sensitive, small space, high current and low voltage applications, such as wireless, optical or access networks or server and computing infrastructure.

The AVO200 series converters accept the telecomms standard wide input range of 36-75VDC. The 12V model delivers up to 16.7A output current, while the 5V model provides up to 40A output. They offer excellent thermal performance over an operating temperature range from -40 to +85°C and are available in either open frame or baseplate design, allowing for optimised conduction or forced airflow cooling.

Artesyn’s AVO200 series converters are easy to design and deploy, including low ripple and noise, fixed switching frequency, high capacitive load capability, pre-bias start-up capability and output voltage remote sense. All variants are fitted with through-hole terminations. The converters are protected against overcurrent, over-temperature and over-voltage conditions. They also have an enable pin on the primary side of the converter and remote-sense features and output voltage adjust function on the secondary side. The industry-standard eighth-brick outline measures 58.4x22.9x9.6mm (2.3x0.9x0.378") for open frame and 58.4x22.9x12.7mm (2.3x0.9x0.5") for versions.
